Hudson's

Hudson's

Hudsons was started in 2002 by 3 founding partners, Chris Decock, Mike Yasinski, and Tracy Rohl. They believe that a country that can drink together, is happy together.

We asked Chris Decock some questions about his Edmonton Made business. Here's what he had to say:

When did you start your business and why?

Hudsons started in 2002; I worked for an Irish Pub and an English Pub in the past so I really wanted to create Canada’s Pub.

Why did you start your business in Edmonton?

I was born and raised in Edmonton, and Alberta was one of the greatest provinces to do business in.

What was your biggest challenge in the early days of your business?

Everything, as a young entrepreneur you really learn from failing, and we failed a lot. But through those failures we were able to achieve success.

What is your biggest challenge today?

The economy and government policies.

Did you/do you have a ‘support network’? What does that look like?

Yes, Entrepreneurs Organization and Strategic Coaching.

Are there any particular resources (local programs, blogs, webinars, video series, forums, books, etc.) you used to help scale/develop your business that you’d recommend to small businesses?

Entrepreneurs Organization, I have found having a personal coach to be very beneficial for us. We also use websites including results.com and sullivision.com by Jim Sullivan. Some books that I think are great include Good to Great, Scaling Up, The One Minute Manager, The Four Agreements, and many more.

Is there a piece of advice you would like to pass on to other Edmonton Made businesses?

Never forget that you guys are the heartbeat of the economy, and without entrepreneurs and their bravery, we wouldn’t have the innovation to move forward in our economy. Sometimes we forget all of the great things we do just by being entrepreneurs and creators.

Is there an Edmonton Made business you’re cheering on?

Too many to list here, but I love supporting locals.

At your size, do you still feel your business is “Edmonton Made”? In what way?

Absolutely, Edmonton has been my home for most of my life, and will always be the birthplace of my business, my family, and who I am.
