Gifted: Submission Guidelines


Submissions are now open for the 2019/2020 edition of Gifted, Edmonton Made's annual gift catalogue, which will include a variety of products that will make it easy for locals, tourist and businesses to shop local.


Edmonton Made enhance the exposure of locally based businesses and makes it easy to shop for distinctly Edmonton products. Launched in 2016 and run by Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, Edmonton Made believes supporting entrepreneurs and their ambitions contributes to our city's economic diversity.

2019/2020 marks the third edition of Gifted. To date, Edmonton Made’s annual gift catalogue has showcased over 200 products by over 100 different local businesses and has distributed 11,900 printed copies to Edmontonians, visitors, local and international media, conference organizers as well as economic trade offices around the world. The catalogues is also available for viewing online and has seen 38,000 unique pageviews.  

We are thankful for all the businesses we have had the opportunity to showcase through Gifted. Here’s some of the results they have shared with us: 

  • Increase in website traffic 
  • Increase in online sales 
  • Increased wholesale orders to local retailers 
  • Additional media coverage

This year we are looking for a new crop of products to feature and promote! 


Edmonton Made is looking for products that are ready for sale in the following categories:

  • Apparel and Accessories
  • Artwork
  • Bath and Body
  • Food and Beverages
  • Furniture and Home
  • Jewelry 
  • Notebooks and Stationery
  • Pet
  • Toys and Hobbies


Business Criteria: 

  • Headquartered and authorized to conduct business in Edmonton and area (within 100 km) 
  • Registered for Edmonton Made (listing appears in the Business Directory on 
  • Agree to have your product(s) appear in a publication alongside complementing and/or competing products in various categories, price points, styles, etc.  
  • Looking to grow your business  
  • Willing to participate in media appearance to promote your product(s) and Gifted 

Product Criteria:

  • Must be a tangible product and not a service 
  • Product must be original and designed in Edmonton 
  • Must be available for purchase online from an e-commerce platform and available for a customer in the Edmonton area 
  • Must guarantee availability for purchase from September 2019 through to January 2020. (Please consider submitting your best-selling product(s)) 
  • Individual product retail price must be less than $500 
  • Product must be easily reproduced 
  • Product has not previously appeared in Gifted
  • A maximum of three (3) products can be submitted for consideration by any one business, and a maximum of two (2) products per business could be featured in the catalogue 


Gift catalogue submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Eligibility criteria has been met
  • Level of innovation or uniqueness 
  • Craftsmanship
  • Retail potential
  • Availability of product


Submissions Deadline: Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:59 pm, MST.

A maximum of three (3) products per business will be considered, and a maximum of two (2) products per business could appear in the catalogue. 

If you'd like to submit multiple products, please fill out an individual form for each product.

Products will be selected by a panel of local members of the business community, design experts and community leaders, in consultation with Edmonton Made. Here is the panel for the 2019/2020 gift catalogue:

Once submissions are closed, the selection panel, in consultation with Edmonton Made, will choose the products that will appear in the Gifted catalogue. The decisions will be final and permanent. Following the juried selection, Edmonton Made will produce a catalogue and advertising campaign. 

All selected businesses must be willing to:  

  • Be a part of print, TV, radio and/or online media appearances 
  • Be available for interviews for a feature story by Edmonton Made 
  • Take part in opportunities to grow your business 
All selected businesses will receive:  
  • Professional photo of product(s) on a white background (as required). 
  • Product(s) displayed in print and online catalogue (on 
  • Link from to product e-commerce page. 
  • Social media and website assets for business to promote participation in the catalogue on their own website and social media channels. 
  • Listing of where product(s) can be purchased in Edmonton and area (within 100km). 
  • Advertising campaign driving Edmontonians, tourists and businesses to use the Edmonton Made Gifted catalogue for their holiday shopping. 
  • Evaluation for export readiness via Edmonton Economic Development Corporation 

Some selected businesses will receive: 

  • Print, TV, radio and/or online media appearances  
  • Feature story on and in printed catalogue 


  • Call for submissions open: Monday, April 1, 2019 
  • Call for submissions closes: Tuesday, April 30, 2019 
  • Meeting of the selection committee and selection of products: May 2019 
  • Selected businesses announced: Friday, May 17 2019 
  • Selected businesses welcome party and product drop off: June 2019 
  • Production of the catalogue: June - August 2019 
  • Gifted catalogue released: September 19, 2019 (Edmonton Made Day!)
  • Distribution and promotion of the catalogue: September 2019 - December 2019 


In submitting your product(s) for consideration, all participants accept that Edmonton Made, a division of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), may take professional photos of their product(s) and may publish them. All participants grant, free of charge, a nonexclusive license to EEDC, authorizing it to reproduce, publish, represent or otherwise disseminate the photographs of the gift catalogue items, without any limitation as to distribution territory, regardless of the medium used, including its website, for an indefinite period. Each participant (especially a distributor or designated agent) is responsible for ensuring that the texts and photographs submitted after the selection may be published and disseminated. Similarly, the participant is also responsible for obtaining the agreement of the designer or manufacturer for the submission of a proposal. EEDC does not assume any responsibility for copyrighted projects or photo royalties for any or all reproduced material with the purpose of promotion and production of the catalogue. EEDC may not be held responsible for any destination error or missed proposal delivery deadline. No part of the call for proposals may be construed as a formal agreement by EEDC to purchase, order or include the gift items in any or all proposed initiatives.
