Originally from the east coast of Canada, Amy Dixon settled in Edmonton in 2009. What started as a few local art festivals, has since developed into a full-time art practice. Finding early inspiration in the mountain and ocean vistas of her childhood in Nova Scotia, Dixon is drawn to natural beauty and place in her art. Dixon primarily works in acrylic and her abstract and landscape paintings reflect her surroundings, memories and an imaginary world that exists in her mind. Amy uses her art to give back to the community whenever she can. She’s worked with organizations like Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton, Children’s Wish Foundation, SAIF and United Way to raise money, as well as host art classes.
