Edmonton Made: A year in review

By Laura Masyk December 16, 2019

2019 saw amazing growth for our community, and we're excited to share our love for local with so many new faces. With over 1,000 businesses to discover in our business directory it's been a joy to champion them along with our nearly 30,000 followers on social media.

We love sharing stories of the people behind these growing brands. To celebrate the year end I'll reflect on some of the stories we've told that give a snapshot of our small business community. So settle in, cozy up to a fireplace (Little Brick has the perfect one!) and let me take you back to some of the stories we told this year.

We kicked off the year with a food trend that sprouted a number of delicious local businesses. Check out how Edmonton's vegan scene thrives in the middle of cattle country and what's up next for your favourite coffee roasters as Edmonton roasters lead coffee's fourth wave.

Edmonton Made businesses aren't only creating high quality products, they are leading the community with compassion. Check out three times Edmonton businesses collaborated for a cause and how Edmonton businesses help protect Alberta's natural landscapes with Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Shopping local means you're supporting incredible Edmontonians who offer original products, give back to the local community and create employment opportunities for so many. If you enjoyed one of these stories, I encourage you to share with a friend, family member or co-worker. Let's keep the conversation going about shopping local and bragging about the vibrant local business community we have in Edmonton.

If you're still looking for the perfect gift, Gifted, Edmonton Made's gift catalogue is overflowing with over 100 local gifts, each with a great story waiting for you to share.

Thank you for supporting local this year! We'll see you in 2020 for another year of celebrating our uniquely Edmonton businesses.
